As I sit down to pen this blog post, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible journey that brought me to where I am today. My name is Rahz Slaughter, and I’ve worn many hats in my life – from being a fitness enthusiast and athlete to a motivational speaker and business owner. However, the role of a caring stepfather and mentor truly defines who I am.
In July 2018, my family and I moved significantly from the bustling streets of Long Island, New York, to the sun-kissed shores of South Florida. This move was more than just a change of scenery; it marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life, one dedicated to making a meaningful impact rather than chasing money and fame.
You might wonder why I became a parenting and teen life coach. The answer lies in my deep-seated desire to inspire and motivate teenagers while offering support and guidance to moms facing the challenges of parenting teenagers.
My mission is clear: encouraging 1 million teenagers and mentoring 100,000 moms on this incredible parenting journey.
Before stepping into the world of coaching, I had experienced my fair share of life’s ups and downs. These highs and low experiences have shaped me into who I am today. I’ve learned that life is a series of lessons, and I’ve chosen to use my life story to help parents and teens create lifelong connections and breakthroughs.
One of the most pressing challenges parents face today is ineffective communication with their teenagers. It’s a challenge I know all too well, having navigated my way through it with my two fantastic step-boys, Richie and Nicky. But it’s a challenge I’m passionate about helping others overcome.
As a communication expert, I’ve gathered many resources and insights to help parents bridge the gap with their teenagers. Effective communication isn’t just about talking; it’s about genuinely listening. I always remind parents that they have two ears and one mouth for a reason – to listen more than they speak.
But let’s get back to why I embarked on this journey. Why did I become a parenting and teen life coach? It all boils down to one simple belief: parenting is a full-contact sport. This phrase resonated with me because it encapsulates that parenting requires active involvement, dedication, and constant learning.
Another powerful quote that has guided me on this path is, “Learn to parent the child you have, not the one you wish you had.” This quote reminds us that each child is unique, and effective parenting means adapting our approach to suit their individual needs and personalities.
So, who is Rahz Slaughter? I’m a husband to my loving and supportive wife, Michele, a dad to Richie and Nicky, and a proud owner of a Boxer beagle mix dog named Ali, named after the late, great boxer Muhammad Ali. I love pizza and tacos, travel, and a passion for lifting weights. I own a fitness studio and am a former bodybuilder and collegiate wrestler.
Through my journey, I’ve understood that being a parent is deeply rewarding yet challenging. It’s about guiding, mentoring, and nurturing the next generation while fostering a strong and loving connection. My goal is to share my experiences, insights, and parenting tips with you so you can better connect with your teenagers and build lifelong bonds.
